The Nyika Plateau, northern Malawi

Nyika Plateau
The Nyika Plateau: grasslands rolling on forever, small areas of scrub and forest, rock outcrops. Thunderstorms and wild light. Roan antelope, zebra, bushbuck, reedbuck, eland, many wonderful birds. The possibility of  hyaenas, wattled crane, Denham’s bustard, leopard.

But without any of those creatures visible, I almost expect to see teletubbies popping out of these rolling hills.

There is a stillness to this photo that seems unusual for an approaching thunderstorm.

Zhoen, I didn't see any there. Not sayin' they weren't there, mind you.

Robin Andrea, it felt like that, too. The calm before the storm.

See, now, I like the 'tension' of the rolling hills receding away from me while the clouds approach ... kinda yin/yang if you know what I mean ...

Barbara, when I looked at the photo again I saw what you mean. Seems to be stillness within movement — perhaps that's what Robin Andrea recognised?
