Barbara, I know I'm not alone in finding this sound one of the best ways of all to relax (and, often, fall asleep). I think it must reach immensely far into our psyches.

While I was in Canada last month I hiked along the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail and nightly camped along the beach. So many different sounds to the waves: deep booms, gravelly washes, spritely dashes, quiet sighs, hurried curls, raining skitters, angry crashes...

I tried to take some longer exposed photos like yours, to capture the movement of the waves, some were okay, but I still have a ways to go to getting the technique right. Still, I went bananas with my camera and had one of the best spells of travel in my life. I definitely didn't want to come back and now am thinking seriously of finally moving to Canada. Have to check out Aotearoa and Australia first, though.

Great to hear you had such a good journey, Miguel. Come and have a good look around Aotearoa soon :^)
