Traffic jam, Jodhpur

CattleMid January 2007. In Jodhpur, travel by foot has definite advantages, not the least being the ease of negotiating blockages like this.

Oh how hysterical! I love the gray one just lounging there in the road. The one in the foreground, I think it likes you;-)

This is like a Surrealist collage.

Gotta be the cutest, most personal traffic jam.

Barbara, that's typical of cattle — that mixture of curiosity and uncertainty.

Patricia, "surreal" describes many of my encounters in India.

Zhoen, I'm still undecided whether the carbon emissions from jams like this were better or worse than those from the usual kind of traffic jams.

Those eyes are saying, both in their placement and their expression "I'm a prey species, are you dangerous?"

Andrew — ha! They're generally docile and unafraid, though. However, I was lucky, unlike a couple of foreigners I met who encountered beasts that decided the best form of defence was attack. No real damage, just a bit of bruising.
