RR & Emma, thank you. Two years might have made little difference (I hope they're still generally as happy as they appear in this photo), but ten years from now, in what kind of world will they live? I really hope those smiles still come as easily.

I guess we see with our own eyes, but I see maturity and (grief?) in the eyes, as if they've had to deal with adult concerns too early. They sure have nice teeth!

Michael, you might be right — it's a pretty tough life there and I can't imagine kids stay kids for long.

Actually, VJ, we had no verbal language in common, but the ability of a smile to evoke a response in kind is amazing. Thanks :^)
