At Zhoen's request, here's the dog that appeared on the latest pohanginapete post. It sat on the steps below the palace at Leh, but clearly had no interest in guard duties.
Zhoen, they're not all as apparently affable as this one. At night there was a particularly nasty gang of dogs I was warned about and took care to avoid.
Zhoen: thanks for requesting this photo. He looks so serene and regal, doesn't he - more cat-like in his poise and authority than we normally expect of dogs. And so casually curious :-)
Zhoen, that's a good attitude in India in particular, and it's exactly how I treated this dog.
Lisa, now you point it out, I do see something cat-like here. I think the slight tilt of the head has a lot to do with the apparent alertness and curiosity.
Kia Ora Pete... This photo reminded me of a bit of news. Fred, our cat, ended up with a nasty scratch that turned nasty. We took him to a vet, and when she asked about his history we said he just sort of appeared and started living under our porch till we coaxed him in so we knew little about him. For starters she said, Fred is a girl.... We are being very supportive of Fred's lifestyle choice.. :)

Thank you. What a streetwise and worldly fellow.

Aww! My sort of dog. I like him.
Lesley, he is kind of cute, isn't he?
I wouldn't have thought him affable. Placid and alert, perhaps. I would not approach him, only admire from a respectful distance.

Kia ora Robb. Ha! Love it! I don't know whether this one was a he or a she, but I wasn't about to check ;^)
