A wild weather system coming up from the south meant the first couple of days at Flounder Bay weren't exactly tropical. In compensation, we got surf like this — particularly beautiful in the late light towards evening.All content © 2009 Pete McGregor

Tammie, thanks. I think it's things like those touches of colour that one starts to notice and look for after lots of wave watching. A nice sunny, calm day just isn't the same.
