Oroua headwaters, mid winter

I walked partway up the Tunupo track today, but despite the effort I remained cold. Still, the views were worth some mild discomfort.

Kia ora Pete,
Looks beautiful but with a slightly ominous feel.

A breath of snowy air. Ahhhhh....

Great image, Pete. Your use of foreground enhances it, as usual.

Kia ora Robb. Yes, I agree. Lovely to look at, but if I were up there I'd want some serious midwinter gear. Triangle hut's in there, though, and wouldn't it be great to be there with you and John and the fire going and a wee dram at hand ;-)

Zhoen, plenty here to savour.

Avus, thanks :-) I had to take care to retain some detail in that foreground without blowing out the highlights on the snow. The cloud helped a bit by lowering the contrast slightly.

Kia ora Pete,
That is a very cool thought. Especially after a short but brilliant blue sky still day on the river with plenty of whio and loads of handy wood for the stove and chilly evening ahead. I smile at the thought.
