Independence Day, Mt Abu

At Mt Abu in Rajasthan, near the border with Gujarat, the Independence Day celebrations were exuberant and colourful. Typical India. I can't imagine anything quite as colourful as this here in Aotearoa... although perhaps if the Indian community were doing the celebrating...

The powder was part of a performance. One of the dancers sprang through the ranks, tossing fingerfuls of powder into the air.

Something of a contrast to the previous photo?

So vibrant, so much energy with no movement.

Zhoen, plenty of energy when they were dancing, though.

I like the title you used and, despite the fact that the yellow powder looks an awful lot like the pollen causing me inordinate misery these days ;0, the color is amazing. I feel my mood lightening from the first glance. I think my favorite part is the bangle balanced on the delicate wrist.

Barbara, I'm sorry to hear the pollen's getting to you. I'm lucky in that I seem to be largely unaffected by most potential allergens, but I have plenty of friends who suffer badly. I guess a photo can't do much to alleviate the symptoms, but I'm very pleased to know this one's lifted your spirits.

I like the poise of that bangle, too :^)
