This male korimako (NZ bellbird) brightened a grey, winter's afternoon. The yellow on his bill and face is pollen from the tree lucerne flowers he'd been foraging among.
Thanks Ali. He was so busy feeding that he didn't seem to mind me (I was standing still, too). The real difficulty was that he was moving fast, with only momentary pauses.

gz, that's right — from time to time he'd give a simple, surprisingly loud, and very beautiful one-note call.
