Sea lions sure know how to relax. These had parked themselves on the wharf and barely bothered opening an eye when I walked carefully past.
By the time you see this, I should be approaching Cuenca, about eight hours by bus south of Quito. The long journey south will have begun.

Awwww...
I think that their name should be changed to sea dogs or sea puppies. I have seen them lounging in the Galapagos and they do not seem like lions.
Enjoy your journey.
Zhoen, I second that.
Patricia, thank you, and I second your comment about the name, too. These definitely reminded me of puppies. They seem nothing like lions to me (lions are one of the few animals I don't particularly like, anyway; I accept them logically but not emotionally. But I love all other cats.)
How precious they are.
Just like the islands they inhabit, Lydia.
