Cloud forest, No. 1 Line

At the No. 1 Line road-end yesterday afternoon, looking into the southern Ruahine range.

I remember my first time in a cloud, in the Smoky Mountains when I was perhaps seven. Like stepping into a different reality. Thank you for that memory.

Kia ora Pete,
The desire this invokes within to walk into the mist is very strong.
Cheers,

I really like the light in this photo.

Is that center tree ‘walking’ into the mist or coming out of it? Is it looking at me or away from me? And the other trees? Are they waiting for that centre tree to come to them, or are they following it into the mist.

But great light going diagonally from near top right to bottom left.

Zhoen, yes, like a different world.

Robb, I'd prefer a drier day, though ;^)

Paul, the light was the attraction — the way it transformed things into two-dimensional layers. A chance to see the shapes of things.

beautiful shot! we're getting mists similar over here at the moment and it makes for some seriously eerie situations. It looks incredibly damp over there!

Watercats, we're getting some peculiar weather, for sure. Scorching for a few days, then wet, maybe a spell of strong winds, occasionally a cold snap — all very unpredictable. Good for practising being adaptable :^)
