Makaroro headwaters, Ruahine range

Back yesterday from four magnificent days in the Ruahine with John (L) and Robb (R). The walk down the river from Upper Makaroro hut included several deep wades (arm-pit deep on one occasion) but on a day like this a good soaking seemed more a plus than a discomfort.

More photos on the way.

Kia ora Pete,
When I view this I feel as if I am back there. The sunlight on the water and an easy few minutes ahead, as the darker gorge behind probably meant a tougher stretch is behind us. And the eyes focused down and on the job at hand, the nuances of river walking. Which did not prevent either John or myself from a fall! The ankle is a bit better :). Beautiful Pete, thank you, and kia ora for the great experience in a wonderful and amzing place.
Cheers,
Robb

Robb, thank you for organising the trip — one of the most enjoyable I've had in the Ruahine for quite a while. Good to hear the ankle's recovering :^)

Zhoen, that's pretty much how I feel now, even so soon after the trip. Got to get back there.
