Piwakawaka (again)

I find these little birds compulsive; the striving for the perfect photograph never ceases. This is far from it, but I still like it. In the grounds of Massey University last Saturday morning.

I love the way you have captured the warmth of the light on the fantail's body.

Cute, but oh, so grumpy.

Ditto the first two comments. I've always admired your work, but it seems as if since 'winter apple,' or maybe the korimako shot, your aesthetic has changed ... these colors are amazing. I can't think of another word ... they're warm, and silky, and creamy, and vibrant ... Is it the winter light? Whatever it is is amazing.

Kiwi Nomad, thank you :^)

Anne-Marie — why do you think of them as males? I wouldn't dare guess ;^)

Zhoen, they do look grumpy, particularly when they're staring directly at you.

Barbara, thank you. I'm not sure why the aesthetic's changed. You might be right about the light; perhaps it's winter or perhaps the earlier than usual time of day (I'm generally not great at being out and about early on winter mornings).
