The Pourangaki catchment from Wooden Peg

By the time we'd left the main Hikurangi Range and made our way to Wooden Peg — a bump on the ridge — we'd left the misty cloud well behind. Clear blue skies make for dull photographs, so this was one of the last before I packed the camera away for good.

Your bit of the earth is very rumpled.

Kia ora Pete...a stirring image. I am reminded of John Muir...

“We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us.”
― John Muir, My First Summer in the Sierra

Zhoen — and it's still being rumpled. We had a 4.9 magnitude earthquake a couple of days ago, and that isn't unusual.

Kia ora Robb. I like that idea of us being in the mountains and them being in us. The less the distinction between us and them, the better.
