Small but life-and-death dramas play out in the corners of my house constantly. This was in the corner of the kitchen ceiling.

And if my partner was there, the poor spider would be glazed to the ceiling with whatever aerosol he could find. I am the catch and release member of the couple.
Now that I apparently live alone I find it consoling that so many others, largish and very, very small share my home and live out their complex lives with minimum interference. This is not altogether a justification for lack of housework on my part, but it helps.
Oh, to go through life with the sobriquet Pholcus Phalangioides. Great phalanges, Daddy-O ;0 The subtle coloring, as you've captured it, is striking.
Elephant's Child, good to hear you're more accepting of other lives ;^). My approach is usually to leave them where they are unless they're causing problems (the rat in the ceiling has to go, I'm afraid).

Barbara, in just the right light, these little spiders can indeed be strikingly beautiful, with a lovely iridescence.
Andrew, I'm pretty sure the fly didn't think so ;^)
