Storm surge, Flounder Bay

In wild weather the storm surge would send waves right up over the beach and into the lagoon at Flounder Bay. I loved times like these; loved the perfect beach when the tide drew back, the tracks of birds in the wet sand, the fractal patterns left by water sliding off the sand, the arcs of wrack, the possibility of something strange washed up.

I am right there with you. In opinion, and in view - thanks to your art.

How beautiful. I love the patterns in the foam remnants.

Thanks Zhoen — good to know others appreciate these things.

Elephant's Child, patterns in water capture me like few other things. Endlessly fascinating.

A beautiful photograph, Pete. Only looks like that for a moment, and then changed forever.

Thanks Robin :^) I have a series of photographs like this — all different, all similar.

I'm curious why you wrote about it in past tense. "Loved"?

Miguel, I haven't been back there for a couple of years, not since my, er, circumstances changed. Apparently the campground has been sold, too.

Too many memories, not yet old enough. Maybe one day.

If those "circumstances" are what I think they are, then you know that I do understand. Forgive me for flushing up old pain.

For some reason I get uncomfortable telling a serious photographer how beautiful their photograph is, because as a photographer myself I feel like I'm not making the effort to see what you intend, but this is really an extraordinary photos. It never stops moving, and curiously different parts at different speeds. It expresses the sea in so many ways. I can almost feel the sand sinking under my feet as the wave pulls out.

No worries, Miguel.

I'm really glad the photograph has that effect on you. Delighted. Thanks for letting me know :^)
