Although a few places around the aptly named Connaught Circus do have traffic lights and pedestrian crossings, getting to the other side of the street is often a matter of stepping out into the traffic and assuming it'll swerve around you. The locals are much better at this than I am.

ReplyDeleteIn Boston, pedestrians often decided they'd waited long enough at a light, and en mass, took over the crossing, cars be damned. "We voted, and decided it's our turn now." Foot democracy.
ReplyDeletegz, :-)
ReplyDeleteZhoen, that's exactly what happens in Delhi, although sometimes a brave (mad?) individual will do it alone. I haven't seen anyone hit yet, though, and hope I never do.
I was startled to see an Irish place name there in Delhi, though I shouldn't have been. Glad you're in a place you enjoy.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I certainly enjoy Delhi, but the problem with the cash crisis has proved too awkward. I'm now in Kathmandu, heading for Bardia NP in the far west of Nepal. I'll return to India in a couple of weeks, when the crisis has died down (I trust). The upside is that I certainly enjoy Nepal, too.
