Dust at Thakurdwara

It may look pretty, but that haze is dust. This was a quick photograph snapped from the back of a jeep bouncing along the rough road to Thakurdwara, the village on the outskirts of Bardia National Park in Nepal.

Tomorrow I leave Mahendranagar and return to India.

[If you haven't already seen it, there's a new post on Pohanginapete]

  1. Reminds me of a scene from Seven Samurai.

  2. I keep coming back and looking at this image. I know what you mean, Zhoen. this may sound fanciful, but it's almost as if you've captured the light and the plants reaching for one another. It's....quite magical.

  3. Zhoen, I still haven't managed to watch that entire film, not because I don't want to, but because I've only ever happened on it on TV partway through the screening. I must get the DVD when I get back to NZ.

Lisa, it was magical in a way. Add to that the houses with their chooks (and chickens) running around, a couple of cattle or buffaloes tethered out front, and the thatched roofs of the buildings, and it was like being in another period of time. Of course, many of the people living in those places were talking on their mobile phones, so it was, well, 'surreal' is an overused word but certainly appropriate.

Constructive criticism is welcomed (I particularly appreciate thoughts on what you like and don't like), but please keep it courteous.
