Southern beech, Pinnacle Creek

I left Waterfall hut some time after Laura and Jono, following them back up Pinnacle Creek. I'd hoped to catch them partway up but, delayed by the Ruahine's offer of photographs, I didn't meet them until I found them waiting at the foot of the final climb to the saddle.

  1. Yet more moody magic. Thank you.

  2. I really like the confusion of scale here. The trees and grasses look almost lilliputian compared with the mountains. I have loved this series of photographs, Pete.

  4. EC, thank you.

Lisa, those two beech trees really are small and gnarled. It's tough country; to pass through in good conditions (like these, believe it or not) is one thing, to live and grow there quite another. The effort shows.

Kia ora Robb. Every time I post a photograph of the Ruahine I think of you. It means a lot to know you appreciate these.

Constructive criticism is welcomed (I particularly appreciate thoughts on what you like and don't like), but please keep it courteous.
