Joinery at Joshimath

Team work
At a joinery shop near my guest house, a team constructed windows. Here in Aotearoa, most of this work would be done using machines: thicknessers, planers and so on. But the power supply at Joshimath was erratic, to say the least, and hand tools make sense. Hard work, though.

    This is a thoroughly lovely photo. I am particularly fond of black and white compositions as many of my dad's photos from my childhood days are in that format ;-) The gentleman looking out at us over his work looks so relaxed and happy. I imagine it's much easier to trade news and jokes while working with 'old school' tools than power ones!
