Joinery at Joshimath

Team work
At a joinery shop near my guest house, a team constructed windows. Here in Aotearoa, most of this work would be done using machines: thicknessers, planers and so on. But the power supply at Joshimath was erratic, to say the least, and hand tools make sense. Hard work, though.

  1. This is a thoroughly lovely photo. I am particularly fond of black and white compositions as many of my dad's photos from my childhood days are in that format ;-) The gentleman looking out at us over his work looks so relaxed and happy. I imagine it's much easier to trade news and jokes while working with 'old school' tools than power ones!

  3. Barbara, thanks :^) And trading news and jokes while working with traditional tools is much safer, too!

Anne-Marie, thanks — I too like all the activity in the background and the other things of interest. Reminds me so much of being there.

Constructive criticism is welcomed (I particularly appreciate thoughts on what you like and don't like), but please keep it courteous.
