Willow at Wanaka

A tree with the right idea on a day like this.
At Lake Wanaka in the January heat, an old willow cooled off in the shallow water near the shore. The midday air hardly moved.

  5. Cheers Clare. Now we've just had a cold snap it's hard to recall that heat — but I wish I could!

    Leonie, thanks :^)

Anne-Marie, no, no swim. Where it wasn't too shallow, it was too weedy or too cold... anyway, you know me. If it's less than tepid, I'm reluctant ;^P

Barbara, true — I'm sure there's a fancy French name for this pose ;^)

  6. A lovely image of the kind of weather I dread. Heavy and oppressive. Nor would I wade there, though I'm sure the willow is happy.

  7. Zhoen, when we first arrived at this spot the weather was much brighter — hot but without the oppressiveness. The cloud gradually built up as a front approached. I photographed this on the way back.
