At the CD launch

Tony & YvanTony and Yvan at the launch of Fine, the album by Ceol Manawatu at — where else? — the Celtic yesterday.
Rat's ass
This photo breaks some apparently important rules, but I still like it.

Update: In response to interest in what the t-shirt says, here's a hugely-cropped section from another photo.

  1. I like the broken rules, makes me want to keep looking. The smile on the left, the concentration on the right. Wondering what his t-shirt says.

  2. Zhoen - Yvan's t-shirt says "I don't give an" with a picture of an ass underneath. Which doesn't work so well in NZ since we say arse not ass!

Yvan is the king of cool t-shirts.

I don't know how this picture breaks rules, Pete, but I like it.

  3. Barbara, it would have been impossible not to have spied Guinness there. Especially at a function like that :^)

Zhoen, mostly I recognise the application of "rules" after photographing, not before. Sometimes they help if my intuition's equivocal.

    Anne-Marie, I agree about Yvan's t-shirt mojo :^) Thanks.

  4. The t-shirt actually also has a picture of a rat (to the left of the donkey) so it's more "I don't give a rats ass". :)

  5. Ah, yes, of course: thanks Andrew. I think one of the other photos shows that better; I might do a small photo of it to add to this post.

  7. It's so weird to see myself in photo, but it's a nice one. Thanks Pete. I never had so many people ranting on about my T-shirt though... I'm pleased... especially given the fact I didn't know the expression when I bought it, just had a guess...
see you tonight Pete I hope!

  8. You're welcome, Zhoen.

Hey Yvan, you guessed well. The first time I saw you wearing that I laughed — and it wasn't at you ;^) And yes, I'll be there tonight. Got to make the most of the opportunities before swine flu forces me into precautionary quarantine in the valley.

Constructive criticism is welcomed (I particularly appreciate thoughts on what you like and don't like), but please keep it courteous.
