This morning threatened rain (and eventually delivered on the threat), but for a few seconds — maybe less than a minute — a low shaft of sunlight stretched out and lit the old apple tree near the edge of the terrace. I grabbed the camera, stepped out onto the verandah and managed a single photograph.
Then the sunlight faded and the valley turned dark again.

Okay, you've done it again - a breathtaking, mythical photo. The lighting is gorgeous, of course, and I love the sense of movement in the tree's branches and the long grass. Another one for repeated viewings ;0 take care.
ReplyDeletegorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThose magical moments brighten a day don't they? And, since you caught it, brighten many dark days.
ReplyDeleteKia ora Pete,
ReplyDeleteThe possibilities seem endless in such light..

I love these rare moments when the light changes and there is a glimpse of...what? Magic? The sacred? Fleeting beauty? There is no word, really, to capture what happens when the barriers between yourself and the natural world dissolves in light. What I always marvel over, afterwards, is the thought "only I saw this" as if the universe, for a brief second, opened itself just for me. I'm so glad you were able to capture one of these moments to share with us.
ReplyDeleteAgh! I apologize for the grammatical error! I was just so caught up in remembering...
ReplyDeleteBarbara, gz, EC — thank you :-)
ReplyDeleteKia ora Robb. As you know, possibility is something I value highly, so I'm glad you see it in this photograph.
Lisa, that's so aptly put. Perhaps the right word doesn't exist, but you've come as close as I can imagine to getting it right. As for the grammar, ... well, perfection's a good goal but isn't always possible. I won't point out my own embarrassing slip-ups ;-)
