Sunrise at Toka Biv, Ngamoko Range

At Toka Biv, dense cloud obscured any view at first light. When the sun rose above the ridge, however, the cloud began to burn off.

  2. Ohhh. Glorious, yes. The colors, the quiet are calling to me to nestle in and just be.

  4. Leonie, it certainly looked spectacular, but the wind was vicious. We were well and truly in the cloud.

Barbara, it would have been nice to have stayed nestled down in our sleeping bags, but the bivvy's tiny and to enjoy this view properly we really had to get up.

Zhoen, it looks like fog, but cloud would have been a more accurate description. What this doesn't show is the way it kept changing from moment to moment — sometimes the sun was in full view, the next minute it had been completely obscured.

Lisa, Toka Biv sometimes seems like somewhere from another world. This sun rising through cloud reminded me of India, but there the cloud was haze — probably with a significant component of smog — and here we were almost certainly the only people on the whole Ngamoko Range — an almost inconceivable situation in most of India.
