Conifer forest, McLeod Ganj (Dharamsala)

Somewhere around here I picked up my first ever leech. A small (but messy) price to pay to be able to enjoy sights like this.

  1. Moody magnificence.
And I agree with you about the messiness of leeches. I still remember the sad day I picked up over 40 of the suckers (including one in my ear) while wandering through a rainforest in Queensland.

  2. A mysterious forest. Beauty always has it's dark side, snakes or leeches.

  3. Kia ora Pete,
I am reminded of my native Wisconsin's coniferous forests by this image. Never had it worry much about leeches, but bound to pick off wood ticks after a days roaming as a kid. Not much of problem then, but with Lyme disease evolving since probably more of an issue these days.

  4. EC — 40 leeches! I don't even want to imagine that.

Zhoen, that's so true of India in particular, and in so many ways.

Kia ora Robb. I'd rather deal with leeches than ticks — no risk of awful diseases.
