As the ferry returned to its course north, the glacier began to slip behind a ridge. Weak sunlight touched the ice as if to say remember this moment.
Then the glacier vanished and the grey rain set in.

I had a toy when I was a kid, a magic window. Two oval clear plastic sheets with different density and colors of sands that shifted around each other. Evoking oceans and mountain landscapes.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so much like that. More intense, more beautiful, but some of the same physical processes.

This is such a gorgeous photo. After looking at Clare Kines's photos of icebergs, my eyes were ready to accept the amazing blue of the glacier. I love this photo.
ReplyDeleteZhoen, I know those — some friends still have one. I'll think of the Brujo glacier when I see it next :^)
ReplyDeleteRobin, Clare's photographs are wonderful. I think people who haven't seen glacial ice (in situ or as bergs) don't realise just how blue it can be — even more intense than it appears in this photograph.
So glad you love the photo :^)
I am going to wait for the book...
ReplyDeleteI'll do my best to keep the wait short, Probligo ;^)
