The refugio on Cotopaxi

The courtyard and rear entrance to the refugio on Cotopaxi, at 4810 m. The refugio sleeps 70 people upstairs; downstairs comprises the kitchen and dining area. I imagine it must be a very welcome sight for climbers returning from higher on the mountain in bad weather.

  1. High-five, Pete! Love this composition, the way the ye is directed to that cheery cherry red jacket, but also the varying shades of black and white and gray. All that aside, I can feel the cold, hear the snow crunch. Trusting you are well...

  2. The way the 'eye' is directed ... sheesh. Some people should not drink coffee and type at the same time!

  3. Barbara, thanks! I do appreciate the way you give specific feedback; you often seem to identify aspects of a photograph I've consciously thought about — and sometimes things I only see later. Cheers! (Yes, I'm fit and well; so far I've avoided any kind of ailment.)

Zhoen, it was certainly cold. Hard to imagine at the moment, on the Galápagos, but I can still remember how glad I was that I'd expected that cold and had brought plenty of appropriate clothing (the benefit of long experience in the New Zealand mountains, where one should always go prepared for any kind of weather).

Constructive criticism is welcomed (I particularly appreciate thoughts on what you like and don't like), but please keep it courteous.
