Tarabita workers, Mindo

>

The tarabita at Mindo is a simple cage that runs back and forth across a deep ravine in the cloud forest. Power comes from what seems to be a truck engine; most of the time the sole functions of these men would appear to be starting and stopping the engine and switching it from reverse to forward. Still, it's a nice place for an office and they seemed cheerful.

  3. Zhoen — well said.

RR, I don't remember which famous person said he liked the idea of humanity but not people as individuals, but I think in general I feel the opposite.

  4. That has to be one of the great saints, surely? Or T.S.Eliot? Or Satre, but he didn't like humanity either.
It certainly wasn't you (nor I).
So glad we can continue these erudite discussions when you're right on the Equator!

  5. RR, I had a vague feeling it was Bertrand Russell, but it doesn't sound like him. I don't know enough about him to know whether he might have held that view. The most likely explanation is that my brain has been fried with too many irregular Spanish verbs.

Constructive criticism is welcomed (I particularly appreciate thoughts on what you like and don't like), but please keep it courteous.
