Painted stork at Khijadiya


I'd never seen so many wild birds gathered in one place as I did at the sanctuary at Khijidiya. Pelicans, egrets, cranes, all kinds of waterbirds and a good number of terrestrial birds — and storks, these being the most common species.

    Jenny, that's an interesting thought. Displayed in the right context, I hope it would provide a reminder of the wonder and importance of wild things.

    Barbara, interesting that you should sense the serenity — although the wetland was noisy and crowded with birds, these storks did seem to have an aura of calm about them. I'm glad it came through in the photograph.
