As the sun rose, the dense mist began to dissolve over Kakum National Park in Ghana. Monkeys crashed about in the foliage below the ropeway where Toni, Ana and I peered out over and through the canopy, and a hornbill flew past, silhouetted. One doesn't forget moments like these.

I love how images can return us to a place with such vivid recollection.
ReplyDeleteMy imagination is trying to fill in the gaps - to hear the monkeys crashing about, to feel the closeness of the mist and how magical this moment is.
Thanks Leonie. Actually, of all the senses, for me the one that most strongly recalls memories is smell.
ReplyDeleteDid you see any pterodactyls flying past?
ReplyDelete(Took me this long to come up with that lame comment.)
Ha! :^) No, no pterodactyls, but hornbills do look prehistoric to me Zhoen.
ReplyDeleteNicely framed shot. From the frame inward, there's a consistent lightening. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tim. I love that kind of "aerial/atmospheric perspective". Gives a scene a sense of depth and age and mystery. Sometimes it can be difficult to photograph, though, and I've often put the camera down and just enjoyed it instead.
