Yesterday evening the light faded through infinitely more hues than I could name. I wandered around, just outside the back door, wondering whether I could photograph the evening in a way that might evoke how it felt to be there, photographing, wondering.

Ohhhhhh... *wants the precious*
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful back door view you have...
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. I can see the light fading fast, and hear the sheep settling down for the night.
ReplyDeleteThe sheep in the meadow, the cow in the corn. (Why do cows get to be in the corn, I wonder?)
ReplyDeleteDelighting the eye.
This reminds me of a painting, pete. The light, the sheep, the expanse of green meeting the sky... each aspect rendered perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI think you caught it beautifully...
ReplyDeleteIf we didn't live in the pacific northwest of the US (and we love it), I'd live in New Zealand.
Oh, this brings back memories ... my father-in-law raised sheep for awhile in VA ... MANY funny stories ;0
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone, for the comments. Glad it worked for you — it was a beautiful evening. The next day, a bitterly cold southerly front came through; as I drove into town, sleet splattered the windscreen and I saw traces of snow low down on those same hills you see in the background of the photo.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, it was shortlived and the forecast for the weekend's looking good.
I love these "I am here" type of photos. Lovely to see your spring time landscape. I'll keep this in mind for a four-direction series of my home. Will wait for an equally magical sky.
ReplyDeleteMichael, thanks — I'm glad it's inspired you, and I'll look forward to your photos :^)
