There's something wonderful happening here. The light isn't quite right (for me). Back in art school, we talked about "the red spot." It's the visual cornerstone of a paining. Sometimes literally a red dot that somehow finished the piece, activated the whole thing. Brought it to life.
Michael, I think I know what you mean, and I agree. The shapes and contrasting textures appeal to me, but somehow those aren't quite enough. I hadn't heard of the "red spot", though. Thanks for the feedback :^)
my instant thought when i saw this was, is that a wad of fur?... I thought it was some ermine creature huddled beneath the rocks :-)
