The same bird that visited Jono and me on our walk out from the Lake Adelaide Basin in early 2006. (Click on the photo to view yesterday's post showing this bird.)
I cannot even begin to imagine how it must feel to be a creature with such fabulous raiment for 'everyday'! Those talons look pretty serious - serious ouch! I love the interplay of greens and grays, and of course, the detail I've always noticed in your shots of birds.
what a stunning bird and you can just tell they're packed full of character! I've been having a gander at the posts I've missed and jeez... what a treat! The snow leopard is an almost iconic image, the beauty and tragedy that surrounds this animal.. I could look at it and weep all day..
Zhoen, these are birds I always enjoy meeting. Sometimes with trepidation, I admit, given the damage they can cause, but I still love them. :^)
Thanks Barbara :^) What you have only the merest hint of in this photo is the spectacular orange underwing. And I do find the dark edges to the feathers striking.
Thanks Watercats :^) I think that snow leopard will haunt me for the rest of my life.
Always good to see a familiar face.
