Fortunately it's becoming much less acceptable to treat them as objects for our entertainment, but I'm still dismayed at the number of people who can laugh at the sight of chimpanzees dressed up and "performing". Moreover, as much as Siebert's book undoubtedly serves a good cause, I can't imagine I'd be able to read it.

Thanks for the thoughts.pohanginapetehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11463792721091291063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-191028737265893759.post-21753895480443882012009-07-10T12:24:56.252+12:002009-07-10T12:24:56.252+12:00A beautiful photo, Pete. I thought of this photo today when I listened to an interview with Charles Siebert who just published a book, Wauchulu Woods Accord, about chimpanzees who are in "retirement" homes after spending parts of their lives in some insane service to humans. I think it's their innate sensibilities, that hint of an interior complexity, that comes through those eyes and draws us to them.robin andreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13390482190562312928noreply@blogger.com
